Middlesbrough are working tirelessly behind the scenes as they put plans in place for the summer transfer window.

Neil Warnock is keen to build a team that is capable of challenging for a top six finish next term and if he's to do that then it's clear that a number of new faces will be needed at the Riverside Stadium.

Joe Lumley has already joined the club as a goalkeeping option, but it's expected that there will be a few more made before the new season kicks off next term.

So who could be the next faces to head for the Riverside Stadium?

Here's the latest news to come from the Riverside Stadium...

Michael Smith

Middlesbrough are set to face competition from Bristol City for the signing of Michael Smith, according to reports from Bristol Live.

The Rotherham United striker is facing an uncertain future with his contract at the New York Stadium moving into the final 12 months of its term.

Smith enjoyed a very impressive campaign in the Championship after netting 10 goals for the Millers in a campaign that ultimately saw them relegated from the Championship.

Reports from Teesside Live have claimed that Neil Warnock's side are keen on a move, but with fresh competition it suggest that the club could face an uphill battle to get a deal done.

Lyle Taylor

Middlesbrough are plotting a potential loan move for Lyle Taylor this summer, as exclusively revealed by Football League World.

The Nottingham Forest forward has endured a frustrating time since moving to the City Ground after starting just 15 games for the Reds over the course of last season, scoring four goals in the process.

As a result Chris Hughton could be set to let the 31-year-old leave the club on loan with Neil Warnock's side joining Blackburn Rovers and Barnsley in the hunt.

Chuks Aneke

Middlesbrough are among the clubs interested in a move for Chuks Aneke, according to Teamtalk.

The Charlton Athletic forward looks increasingly likely to move on this summer after failing to agree a new contract at The Valley following a successful season in which he's scored 15 times over the course of the campaign.

As a result it's claimed that the Teessiders are one of several clubs keen on a move for the 27-year-old, alongside Bristol City, Reading, QPR and Coventry City.
