Middlesbrough are in talks with West Ham over a potential loan move for winger Grady Diangana, Football Insider have reported.

Diangana burst onto the scene last season when he scored twice on his senior debut as West Ham thrashed Macclesfield 8-0 in the EFL Cup, with the winger going onto make 21 appearances in all competitions for Manuel Pellegrini's side throughout the campaign.

His performances in that time have seemingly attracted plenty of attention, with 'Boro reportedly one of several Championship sides to have made enquiries about a potential loan move for the 21-year-old.

Jonathan Woodgate's side are in the market for wingers in the current transfer window, and Diangana is said to be high on their wanted list as they look to add to their attacking options for next season.

The England Under 20 international is part of the West Ham squad that is currently away in China for the Premier League Asia Trophy, and Hammers boss Pellegrini has apparently not yet decided what his plans for Diangana are next season.

Following his impressive performances breaking into the Hammers first team, the winger was rewarded with a new contract back in January, which will keep him at West Ham until the summer of 2025.

The Verdict

This could be a smart move by Middlesbrough.

With only three teams in the division scoring fewer league goals than they did last season, adding a new dimension to their attack that the pace and desire of a winger such as Diangana would bring could improve their prospects drastically upfront.

Having stepped into senior football with the Hammers seamlessly, you imagine that Diangana would have no concerns about taking on the challenges of a Championship promotion push such as the one that 'Boro are expected to make next season, despite his lack of experience.

It has been a quiet summer in terms of incomings at 'Boro so far, but you feel that a signing like this is certainly one with the potential to get people sat up in their seats at the Riverside Stadium.
