Middlesbrough have already held talks with the representatives of Yannick Bolasie in a bid to get the winger back to the Riverside Stadium following his release from Everton.
Bolasie was a major hit on loan with Boro during the second-half of last season after arriving in the North East on loan from Everton.
He made 15 appearances in the Championship, scoring three goals and registering three assists for Neil Warnock’s side.
That wasn’t enough to fire Boro into the play-off picture by the end of the season, but it has been enough to convince Warnock that he wants to reunite with the 32-year-old now his Everton exit has been confirmed.
A report from the Northern Echo has revealed that initial talks between Bolasie and Boro have been held already, with Warnock hopeful of securing his service as he aims to revamp his squad at the Riverside Stadium.
21 things every Middlesbrough fan should know about their club, so can you score 100% on this?
Ashley Fletcher and Britt Assombalonga have headlined the list of departures this summer, with that striking duo moved on after four years of service at the Riverside Stadium.
They were signed by Garry Monk on the back of Boro falling back into the Championship, but neither were able to fire the Teessiders back into the Premier League.
Bolasie certainly left his mark on Boro in his short time at the club and now that he’s a free agent, it was always on the cards that talks were going to be held.
Let’s not kid ourselves, Boro won’t be the only option presenting themselves to Bolasie at this moment in time, he will have options abroad too.
However, Warnock’s pitch to get him back will be a big factor in the mind of the 32-year-old, who will surely want to prove himself again in the Championship.
He’s got enough to offer at this level still.
