Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City are among a host of sides interested in signing Ross County striker Ross Stewart, according to reports from the Daily Record.

Stewart was on fire for the Staggies before the SPFL campaign was brought to an end, scoring 11 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions.

The 23-year-old is now said to be attracting interest from a host of clubs, and with only a year remaining on his contract at Dingwell, County may look to cash in this summer rather than lose him for free next year.

Championship sides Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City are said to be interested in signing Stewart, along with Hibernian and Aberdeen.

Hibs look to be at the front of the queue for Stewart's signature, with Daily Record claiming that talks have resumed following a failed attempt to sign the forward in the January transfer window.

But whether interest from England plays a part in deciding his next destination remains to be seen, as the likes of Boro, Rovers and Stoke look to bolster their attacking options.

With nine games left to play in the Championship this season, Blackburn sit three points off the play-offs in 10th, whilst Stoke and Boro are fighting for survival, sitting 17th and 19th respectively.

The Verdict

Stewart looks to be a really good player who has scored plenty of important goals for Ross County this term.

I think Blackburn would be the best move for him out of the three Championship sides mentioned. They might need a new striker if Danny Graham leaves, and Stewart would be a younger, exciting replacement.

Hibs will be confident of landing him, though, so it remains to be seen what happens in this transfer situation.
