Middlesbrough remain in the play-off hunt at the moment as they look to get themselves back into the Premier League after a season away.

The men from the Riverside were expected to challenge for the automatic places this season but it looks as though they are going to have to do with a top six place instead.

For sure, they have the squad to achieve it, they just need consistency, and they'll be looking to achieve that despite the recent loss of Rudy Gestede to an ankle injury for the rest of the campaign.

The forward was doing well under Tony Pulis and clearly suited the Welshman's style of play so he is going to be a miss for the remaining months of the season.

He seems upbeat, though, with him posting this message from hospital on his Twitter account:

The Verdict

It's been a tough blow for Gestede and Boro but the forward seems ready to get back as soon as he can - though that won't be this season.

Boro do have the squad to get results without him, of course, but they still need to step up and be counted with the top six race set to go to the wire.
