Middlesbrough have endured a difficult start to their Sky Bet Championship return, with Garry Monk’s side unable to make the impact on the division that many expected them to.

The Teessiders currently sit 11th in the table, having picked up 16 points from their opening 11 fixtures of the season.

Monk oversaw a busy summer, which saw a number of players arrive and depart the Riverside Stadium, as he prepared his squad for the task ahead in the Championship.

Here at FLW, we believe that Monk may once again look to strengthen in January, by trying to add some more creativity to his squad at the Riverside.

One player we believe Monk should be looking to sign is Aaron Lennon, who could be available on-loan, with the winger limited to just three appearances for Everton across all competitions so far this season.

Lennon, 30, has a wealth of experience having had impressive spells with Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, with the majority of his 356 league appearances coming in the Premier League.

The former England international’s arrival would undoubtedly lift the pressure off Marvin Johnson and Adama Traore, who Boro are reliant on to create chances for a dangerous strikeforce.

One criticism of Boro this season has been their failure to create chances for the likes of Britt Assombalonga and Patrick Bamford, a problem that Lennon has the ability to solve.
