Middlesbrough will be hoping to continue on the promotion push next season after falling short in the playoffs last time out under Tony Pulis.

The Teeside club are hoping to make a swift return to Premier League action and have plenty of impressive players among their squad, with the likes of Adam Clayton, Patrick Bamford, and Britt Assombalonga all proven second tier commodities.

However, there is a feeling that club need just that little bit more if they are serious about challenging for the top two, and one player we at FLW have been impressed with over the last two years is Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck.

The Scot, who joined the Blades on a free from Coventry two seasons back, has been instrumental for Chris Wilder's men as they romped to League One success and impressed in the Championship last year.

Fleck is a quality operator, and runs the midfield for the Blades. Capable of keeping the ball and contributing in terms of goals and assists, Fleck is also not afraid to get among things and put a tackle in, something which endears himself to the Bramall Lane crowd.

United would be hard pressed to sell Fleck, but money can talk, and Boro would be wise to at least test the water with a tempting bid for the midfielder.

Boro fans, what do you think to this? Would Fleck fit in well? Let us know in the comments!
