West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass has been told that he is free to leave the club this summer either on loan or permanently.

West Ham only signed Robert Snodgrass seven months ago from Hull City but he failed to make an impact in East London in his fifteen matches in claret and blue.

The 29-year-old does not fit West Ham's style of play and he is deemed surplus to requirements after finding himself below Andre Ayew, Marko Arnautovic, Manuel Lanzini, Michail Antonio and Sead Haksabanovic in the pecking order at The London Stadium.

Snodgrass was omitted from the West Ham squad to face Manchester United on the opening day and is almost certain to leave before the transfer window shuts.

Sunderland have shown an interest in him, as confirmed by manager Simon Grayson, but Middlesbrough should rival the Black Cats for Robert Snodgrass.

Boro look strong all over the field but could do with another attacking midfielder.

Adama Traore is the only natural winger on their books and Snodgrass could add quality to that department.

The Scotland international has a sumptuous left foot and could provide top class service for Ashley Fletcher, Patrick Bamford, Martin Braithwaite, Britt Assombalonga and Rudy Gestede.

Having already drafted in Darren Randolph and Ashley Fletcher from West Ham this summer, Boro should also bring in Robert Snodgrass.

He would be a welcome addition to Garry Monk's side either on a permanent deal (if they can negotiate a fraction of the price that West Ham paid Hull) or as a loan option.
