Boro were initially given 8,600 tickets for their fourth round tie, but with them being sold out last week, they have been given a further 1,450 tickets to offer to the fans.

Despite them being priced at £45 for an adult, the Championship club are expecting the extra allocation to sell fast.

The last fixture between the two sides was when Boro were last in the top-flight, when United beat the Teeside club 2-0 in May 2009.

Aitor Karanka’s side currently sit in second place in the Sky Bet Championship, having accumulated 20 points from ten league games so far this season.

Boro face Kit Symons’ Fulham in their next league game, and Karanka will be hoping for a win to put more pressure on league leaders Brighton and Hove Albion.
