Middlesbrough could be set to demand a huge fee of around £16m for striker Patrick Bamford, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The in demand striker is wanted by big spending Nottingham Forest following an excellent finish to the season last time out, where his run of goalscoring helped fire Boro into the playoff places.

However, he is now wanted by his former manager Aitor Karanka at the City Ground, and Boro hope to seriously put the Reds off it seems by slapping what is a huge asking price on the head of the former Derby and Chelsea striker.

Bamford, who is still only his his early twenties, has plenty of Championship experience under his belt already and has already won a player of the year award, fittingly, under Karanka when he fired Boro to the Premier League two seasons back.

Forest are looking to take the Championship by storm next season and have already splashed the cash on the likes of Joao Carvalho and Hilal Soudani. Adding someone with known Championship experience who would more or less be a guarantee of goals would be a superb addition though for the Reds, and could well be the difference between making a push for the top six or not.

Forest fans, what do you make of this? Would you pay this or walk away? Let us know in the comments!
