According to the Sporting Life Live Deadline Day Blog [11:56], Middlesbrough are set to win the race for Leeds United target Muhamed Besic.

Everton are ready to let Besic leave on loan again and Middlesbrough appear set to re-sign him on another temporary stint.

The 25-year-old joined Boro last January and played 17 games for the club, impressing with his box-to-box midfield displays.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international joined Everton four years ago and has played a total of 56 games for the club, although he has only featured twice in the Premier League in the last two seasons.

Formerly of Hamburg and Ferencvaros, the defensive midfielder is set for a return to the Riverside Stadium, teaming up with Tony Pulis again on another loan deal.

Leeds were chasing him after selling Ronaldo Vieira and losing Adam Forshaw to injury but they will now have to look elsewhere.

The Verdict

Besic will add some much needed legs to the midfield ranks and improve Boro's squad so much.

When you look at Boro's central midfield options of Jonny Howson, Adam Clayton, Grant Leadbitter, Paddy McNair and now Besic, you have to say they are among the best in the division.

It is a blow for Leeds as I think Besic would have been a superb addition for them.
