According to HITC Sport, Middlesbrough and Cardiff City are chasing a deal to sign Preston North End ace Greg Cunningham.

Greg Cunningham has been one of Preston's most reliable and consistent performers in the Championship and his displays have not gone unnoticed.

Middlesbrough - who were recently relegated from the Premier League - and Cardiff City are tracking the left back ahead of a possible move.

Boro could look to bolster their options in that position despite having the reliable George Friend there.

James Husband and Fabio can also play at left back.

However, if George Friend or Fabio leaves, Garry Monk will look at bringing in Cunningham as Friend's successor.

Cardiff City also have a solid option at left back with Joe Bennett enjoying a good debut season with the Bluebirds in 2016/17.

But Neil Warnock is a long-term admirer of Cunningham and could make a swoop this summer.

Preston will be reluctant to lose the Irishman, who was one of their best players last season.

The 26-year-old joined Preston from Bristol City in summer 2015 and has since made 90 appearances for the Lilywhites.

With two years left on his current Preston contract, the reliable full back will not come cheap.

However, Preston North End are currently readying themselves for bids from Boro and Cardiff for their prize defender.
