Jordon Ibe is a rumoured transfer target for Championship side Middlesbrough according to The Sun (22nd May, page 56).

The winger is out-of-contract at the end of this year's campaign, and it's already been revealed by Sky Sports that the former Liverpool man is set to leave in July, despite the season likely to be extended until later this year.

Ibe has struggled for consistency in his performances with AFC Bournemouth, and it won't come as a surprise to many to see him departing the club this summer.

Middlesbrough could certainly benefit from having a player of Ibe's calibre in their side, with Jonathan Woodgate's side currently sat 19th in the Championship table.

With recent off-the-field events calling this year's campaign to an abrupt halt, Boro will know that they need to put together a positive run of results at the earliest of opportunities.

Ibe has previously been on the books with Liverpool, but moved to AFC Bournemouth in the summer of 2016 for a fee believed to be in the region of £15million.

But he has scored just five goals in 92 appearances for the Cherries, in a spell to forget for the former England Under-21 international.

The Verdict:

This could be a shrewd bit of business by Middlesbrough if they can get this deal over the line.

Ibe has struggled with AFC Bournemouth, with his career somewhat stalling in recent years. But he has shown promising signs with Derby County in the past whilst on loan with the Rams in the Championship.

Ibe will be eager to prove a point in English football, and a move to Middlesbrough could be the perfect opportunity for the former Liverpool winger to do just that.
