Middlesbrough new-boy Danny Batth hopes his recent promotion-winning experience will help Boro as they look to secure a return to the Premier League.

The Teesside outfit secured a deadline day loan for the Wolves centre-back, with Batth set to spend the remainder of the season with Tony Pulis' men.

The 27-year-old was club captain with Wanderers last season as they ran away with the Championship title and whilst he didn't always play, he was acknowledged as a key figure off the pitch.

And, speaking to Boro's official site, Batth reckons that could be vital this season:

"I think I’ve got good experience now. I’ve played a number of games and captained Wolves for a long time. Hopefully I can add to an already experienced dressing room we’ve got here at Middlesbrough, fit in and enjoy it."

The defender also made it clear that helping Boro to the top-flight is the objective:

"I think the players, the supporters and everyone likewise will want to get promoted, but at the same time it’s one thing saying it and another thing doing it."

The Verdict

Batth looks as though he will be a solid signing for Boro and as he says, his experience from last season can only be a positive.

On the whole, Boro have a squad that know about the Championship but it can't harm them having another senior figure who understands what to expect.

Now, it's down to Batth to impress in training to ensure he can play a big role on the pitch in the promotion push.
