Middlesbrough have seen a £6m bid for George Saville and Jed Wallace rejected according to today’s printed Sun (page 55.)
Boro have made some good signings this summer but Tony Pulis has made it known that he wants a few more in order to really compete at the top of the league.
Indeed, with Adama Traore leaving for big money to Wolves earlier this week, the club now has some cash to splash but with hours left in the permanent transfer window, it’s looking tough for them to get deals done.
Millwall have flatly rejected the bid for two of their best players and you get the feeling that unless Boro offered to pay completely over the odds, Neil Harris won’t sanction this double deal.
Millwall should have beaten Middlesbrough on the opening day and they’ll know that if they let this pair go to Boro they’d only be strengthening the Teessider’s promotion charge.
Neil Harris is all about keeping his squad together as things stand and it would be very surprising in these final hours if suddenly that stance changed.
Boro, then, will have to look elsewhere by the sound of things.
