Middlesbrough are set to make a sensational swoop for Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, according to Sky Sports.

Boro are likely to lose influential attacker Adama Traore before the transfer window shuts this Thursday with a move to Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers edging ever closer.

With the former Barcelona man on the verge of a Riverside exit, the need for a replacement will be more important than ever.

Tony Pulis’ men grabbed a last-minute draw away to Millwall on the opening weekend in a pulsating 2-2 daw at The Den.

Speaking after the match, one that Traore missed, he expressed the need to add to his side before the 5pm deadline on Thursday.

Boro lacked creativity from wide areas in the draw and were narrow and void of any real attacking threat.

Pulis has earmarked Bolasie as the player he sees as a direct replacement for the outbound 22-year-old and looked in need of a new wide outlet.

The Verdict

Middlesbrough are indeed going for it!

What a signing this could be should Tony Pulis pull it off.

Bolasie was in imperious form for Crystal Palace before a move to Merseyside and would undoubtedly dominate the Championship.

It would a signal of intent for Boro, whose own manager said their current side would not get promoted.

He would be a marquee signing and would demonstrate Middlesbrough’s single-minded mentality to go one better than last season and get promoted back to the top-flight.

You would have to make them serious contenders if they can prize the 28-year-old away from the Toffees and the Premier League.

If they do, they will have some player on their hands.
