Championship side Middlesbrough are looking to make a move for Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan this summer, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The report claims that Boro are big fans of Bannan, who returned to first team action towards the end of last season following a season of frustration with injuries, and played a key role as the Owls saw an upturn in form towards the end of the campaign.

Bannan, who has become a fan favourite at Hillsborough, is one of a number of players who could be on the move this summer as the Owls look to offload some of their big earners and rebalance the books before making another run at the playoffs.

Last season saw the Owls miss out on any sort of challenge for promotion after the club endured a miserable start to the season under Carlos Carvalhal, which included an embarrassing 4-2 home defeat to rivals Sheffield United.

Wednesday will be hoping they can keep hold of Bannan though, who has become instrumental for the club as they reached the playoff final two seasons back, and the semi finals the season after before losing out to Huddersfield Town.

Owls fans, what do you think? Would you sell Bannan? Let us know!
