Middlesbrough defender Hayden Coulson is on the verge of sealing a loan move to St Mirren, according to The Scottish Sun.
Coulson will join St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on a season-long loan deal.
The left-back, who can also play as a left-winger, has not yet made his Middlesbrough debut and so he is heading out on loan to gain some valuable first-team experience.
The England youth international has been a regular in Boro’s youth sides, winning the double with the under-18 team in the 2014/15 season and playing most weeks in the under-23 team.
Coulson signed a new deal at Middlesbrough earlier in the year and he is highly rated by the club, who want him to get some senior playing experience before integrating him into their first-team set-up.
Tony Pulis will sanction his season-long loan exit with recently promoted St Mirren – managed by Alan Stubbs – set to wrap this deal up.
This is a good move for all parties as Coulson gets the playing time that he needs to develop and stake a claim for the first-team.
Boro will reap the long-term benefits if he returns and is able to push for first-team contention, while St Mirren are getting a very promising young defender on loan.
If he gets regular game time in a competitive league against some good players, Coulson is going to return to Boro a much more rounded and mature player.
