Martin Braithwaite has been in sensational form for Boro so far this season, bagging three goals in four games as they romp to the top of the early Championship table.

However, according to the Northern Echo, the Dane could soon be exiting the Riverside as he hunts a move back to France, despite seemingly finding favour under Tony Pulis.

It is thought if Pulis manages to sign Yannick Bolasie from Everton, it would pave the way for Braithwaite to return to France, where he spent last season on loan.

He fell out of favour shortly after Pulis arrived at the club and spent time out with Bordeaux in Ligue 1. He had previously starred for Toulouse in the same division and is thought to want a move back to the country he made his name in.

The report suggests Tony Pulis is somewhat reluctant to lose the Denmark international, which represents a significant change from last season. He's been in fine form this season and has formed a pacey and energetic partnership with Britt Assombalonga.

The Verdict

This would be disaster for Boro. Braithwaite should never have been loaned out to Bordeaux, his form this season proves that, but one wonders if perhaps that snub has fuelled his desire to go back across the channel.

He could be integral to a promotion charge this season and he's clearly enjoying his football. Boro must do everything in their power to keep him at the club.
