Marc Bola has agreed a deal to join Blackpool on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Middlesbrough full-back has struggled to establish himself under Jonathan Woodgate after leaving the Tangerines for the Riverside Stadium over the summer.

According to Football Insider, Bola is set for a return to Bloomfield Road on a short-term basis.

The 22-year-old has fallen down the pecking order this term, with Woodgate preferring Hayden Coulson or Marvin Johnson at left wing-back, so with the defender struggling for confidence, it seems like a move that could make sense.

Bola has made just 10 appearances for Middlesbrough so far this term, but their recent upturn in form - combined with Coulson's impressive displays - has left the full-back out of the picture.

That means that a move to Blackpool, who currently sit in 12th place in League One, is perhaps the best option.

The verdict

A loan move for Marc Bola certainly makes sense.

The 22-year-old is struggling for confidence at the Riverside Stadium and perhaps a move to his former club will be just the tonic to get himself back on track.

This is by no means the end of Bola's Middlesbrough career, and the hope will be that he can return in the summer to challenge for his place.
