Middlesbrough midfielder Lewis Wing has shared a video from training on Instagram showing him scoring a marvellous goal.
Middlesbrough have endured a very difficult start to the Championship this season, sitting in 20th place and only two points clear of the relegation zone.
Lewis Wing came into this season with his confidence high that he could continue his footballing rise with another solid season for the Teesside club.
Wing started this season in perfect fashion, scoring a wonder-goal on the opening day against newly-promoted Luton Town. A curling effort from 25-yards into the top right corner was not enough to see Middlesbrough take all three points, but the midfielder will be happy with individual performance on that one.
Middlesbrough have seen the international break come at an ideal time, with the club desperate to pick up their form and begin to rise up the table and mount a charge for the play-offs, which is not beyond the realms of possibility.
Wing’s post on Instagram depicted a training exercise in a smaller pitch with nine players on each team. Wing picked the ball up in a deep position with space to drive into but decided to take a powerful strike from distance leaving the keeper no chance, as it sailed into the top-left corner.
Lewis Wing and Middlesbrough will definitely be looking at their start to the season believing they aren’t even close to their full potential, but it is positive to see the player in high spirits and confidence with training insights like these.
Both players and fans alike will be hoping that Wing’s performance in training can start to show in games with Boro needing to get their season going before it’s too late to mount a play-off push.
