Blackpool are eyeing a shock return for Marc Bola at Middlesbrough, with the Championship club willing to let him leave this month according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Bola only made the move to Middlesbrough in the summer of 2019, after making a good impression with Blackpool during the 2018/19 season.

But the move hasn't worked out as well as both parties would have hoped for, with the full-back making ten appearances this term for Jonathan Woodgate's side in the Championship.

Boro's recent upturn in form has meant that game time has been difficult to find for Bola at the Riverside, and a move to Blackpool will surely be tempting for him with a club he knows well.

The Tangerines are currently sat 12th in the League One table, and are just two points adrift of the play-off places, which certainly remain a possibility this term.

Bola made 43 appearances in total for Blackpool before leaving for Middlesbrough, but it seems as though a return to Bloomfield Road could be on the cards.

It remains to be seen as to whether any potential return will be a permanent one, but it seems likely that it's going to be a loan deal, with Middlesbrough unlikely to want to move him on permanently so soon into his spell with the club.

The Verdict:

I'm certainly surprised by this!

Bola hasn't been given much of a chance by Jonathan Woodgate since he signed for Middlesbrough, but I didn't think he'd be departing the Championship club this month.

But if it's a loan move, it makes sense as he'll be able to get that with Blackpool in League One as they target a top-six finish in the third tier this season.
