Aden Flint has expressed his delight at his side's comfortable 2-0 win against Bristol City, the club he moved from this summer, report Middlesbrough's official website

The 29-year-old spent five years with the Robins after signing in 2013 but made the switch to the Riverside this summer for around £7million.

"It's a great win for us, we knew it would be a hard place to come," he told the club's official website.

"To keep a clean sheet as well is icing on the cake really."

"It's always nice when you get a good reception when you come back as well."

The big centre-back says that the rigorous planning the week before bore fruit today, with Boro's gameplan working a charm against the Robins.

"We've worked on it all week how we were going to set up, and how we were going to hurt Bristol, and that's what we did.

"Second half, we probably defended more than we would have liked, but like I say it was a dominating performance."

Strikers Martin Braithwaite and Britt Assombalonga grabbed the goals to take Tony Pulis's men top of the Championship table.

Braithwaite gave the North East side the lead on the 12th minute which also brought up his third goal in four matches this season.

Assombalonga doubled Boro's lead 20 minutes later and Tony Pulis's trademark defence made sure the game was safe.

The verdict

This is another brilliant result for Boro if not a spectacular one.

But that is what we will get from them. Beating teams one or two nil through rigid organisation.

Flint winning on his return will sting a bit for Bristol City's fans, but they have recruited well in his absence and will be pushing towards the right end of the division come May.
