Premier League side Liverpool are tracking Middlesbrough centre-half Dael Fry ahead of a January move, according to reports from HITC via The Sunday Express (print edition, page 41, November 18th 2018.)
The 21-year old has started 10 of Boro’s 17 league games in the Championship this campaign, and is a popular figure at the Riverside having coming through the club’s highly-rated academy.
Reports have now surfaced, however, that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are monitoring the young defender’s progress ahead of a January move, with the report claiming that the Merseyside club have watched the defender around six times this season.
The towering six-foot-four defender has made 12 appearances for England’s under-21 side, and has contributed frequently to a Boro defence that has conceded just eight goals in 17 games this season.
Tony Pulis’ men currently sit second in the Championship table, just two points off table-toppers Norwich City.
This is an interesting development for sure – Fry obviously has a lot of potential and has been a key figure for Boro this term.
I don’t think an immediate move to Liverpool should happen straight away as his game-time won’t be definite. He should stay in the North East for the time being.
