Middlesbrough are keen on Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo if they lose Adama Traore before the transfer deadline.
The speedy Spaniard had been expected to join Wolves for £18m, however that transfer was thrown into doubt after he dislocated his shoulder on Friday night.
Traore was forced off in the first-half against Sunderland and could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines. Therefore, it’s unclear as to whether Wanderers will pursue a deal for the 22-year old.
Yet, Boro need to plan regardless, and according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, they will move for Ojo if they have to.
The 21-year old is highly-rated at Anfield, and scored in the 4-1 friendly win over Manchester United last night, however the reality is he will not get first-team football under Jurgen Klopp this season.
And, Nixon believes that a fee of £10m could persuade the Premier League side to sell, stating that Boro are firmly in the race for Ojo, who has also been linked with Nottingham Forest.
Boro will not want to lose Traore and that injury could be a blessing in diguise if it keeps him at the club.
But, with a release clause that is public knowledge, he could move on at any moment, so it’s good to plan how to spend that money if it comes in.
Ojo would be a smart signing. His displays on loan with Fulham last season highlights his ability and at 21-years old he is only going to get better and could be a star at this level in the next 12 months.
