Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough are favourites to sign Norwich City striker Gary Hooper, according to Shoot.
Hooper, 27, was part of a Norwich revolution back in 2013 when he joined the club for £5 million from Celtic, scoring six Premier League goals in his first campaign, subsequently seeing his club relegated from the top flight.
He managed 12 goals in 30 appearances last season and is probably on the fringe of the Carrow Road side following their promotion to the Premier League via the play offs last season, and with Alex Neil usually opting to go with one up front.
They’re by no means the only suitors for the Englishman, as Sheffield Wednesday remain keen on bringing him in, as well as rivals Sheffield United, as Nigel Adkins hopes to link up with his former striker who he managed at Scunthorpe.
Hooper is a fine Championship striker and would be a good addition to Boro’s side to help haul in the goals this season, but it remains to be seen whether Neil will be willing to let the ex-Celtic frontman depart Carrow Road this summer.
If Hooper can rekindle the sort of form he showcased at Celtic or Scunthorpe United, the 27-year-old would turn out to be a fantastic signing for any Championship club.
