Middlesbrough have made an improved offer for QPR midfielder Luke Freeman as Tony Pulis looks to add to his squad before the 5pm deadline.

It's been a very tough end to the window for Boro, with Patrick Bamford, Ben Gibson and Adama Traore all departing in the past week.

That has left the Teesside outfit scrambling for new players today and they have targeted Freeman, who has excelled at QPR in the past few years.

Having seen a previous bid for the 26-year old rejected last week, Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has revealed that they will go in with another bid today.

How far they will get with that remains to be seen, with R's owner Tony Fernandes tweeting this morning that he had no intention of selling Freeman before the deadline.

He confirmed that 'all offers had been rejected', with Blackburn also making a firm bid for the player that was turned down.

Freeman has played over 60 games for the Loondon club since joining from Bristol City in 2017.

The Verdict

Freeman is a quality player and exactly what Boro need in terms of providing extra creativity in the final third.

However, his importance to QPR is clear and selling him at this stage of the window would be a major risk, with Fernandes making it clear he doesn't want to lose him.

Therefore, Boro have it all to do but it would be an impressive capture if they get it over the line.
