Middlesbrough have shown interest in signing Queens Park Rangers midfielder Luke Freeman in this summer’s transfer window.

According to The Mirror, the Teesside outfit are mulling over a possible bid for the 26-year-old, as Boro head coach Tony Pulis wants to add to his midfield for the coming season.

Freeman, who played his youth football at Premier League giants Arsenal, played 46 times for QPR last season, racking up 12 assists and finding the net five times.

He impressed with his technical ability and became a key creative force at Loftus Road in what was a tough season at times for the London club.

The former England Under-21 international has played the majority of his career at Championship level, having previously played for Bristol City prior to his spell at Loftus Road.

Boro will be hoping to go one step further this coming campaign, and improve on last season’s disappointing play-off semi-final defeat to Aston Villa.

The Verdict

Pulis has not bought in a great amount of players this summer, but the signings of Aden Flint and Paddy McNair are ones to be admired.

With the addition of Luke Freeman, the Boro squad could be one of the strongest in the division, and will be a tough side the play against.

Letting Freeman go to a fellow Championship rival could be devastating for QPR, and have a negative reaction from the fans given his importance to the team.
