Middlesbrough have joined the battle for Cuco Martina with Stoke City also interested in a loan deal for the Everton defender.
The Liverpool Echo is reporting that both clubs have made an offer to bring the player in on loan before the end of the window this month and it appears the full-back now has a decision to make.
He’s got pace and something to offer going forwards but sometimes he can be erratic going the other way – particularly in the Premier League.
However, in the Championship he might be able to deal with things a little better and that is what the Potters and Boro will both be hoping if he decides to join them.
With the European window open until the end of the month as well, though, both Stoke and Middlesbrough will need to be wary that other clubs could steal in with a permanent offer.
Martina is a player that has great pace and offers width going forwards from the right-hand side of defence.
However, question marks remain over his defensive attributes and whoever brings him in by the end of August will want to see that he has improved that side of his game.
