Mo Besic has admitted he is loving his time with Middlesbrough, but has played down talk of a permanent transfer to focus on a promotion push.

Tony Pulis moved to add Besic to his squad at the Riverside Stadium during the January transfer window, with the midfielder arriving on-loan from Everton until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has featured on 13 occasions for the Teessiders since his arrival, scoring one goal and registering one assist, helping Boro into play-off contention.

Speaking to the Northern Echo, Besic admitted he was loving his spell on Teesside, but put talk of a permanent transfer on hold, with full focus on Boro’s push to make an instant return to the Premier League: “I am happy here, and I want to give them something back on the pitch.

“I am settled here. I feel really happy to play, and hopefully we will go to the play-offs. I will be very happy if we can go to the Premier League, then I will sit down and talk about my future.

“At the moment, I don’t want to think about that. I just want to keep going in the way that I have been, and hopefully bring Boro back to the Premier League. Then we can talk about what will happen.”

Boro’s form during the second-half of the season has drastically improved, with Pulis taking an inconsistent squad and delivering a serious assault on the top-six.

Pulis’ side have won three of their last four fixtures to move into fifth and take control of the race for the play-offs.

Boro currently sit three points clear of seventh, with two fixtures of the season still remaining. Coincidently, the Teessiders take on seventh placed Millwall on Saturday evening in the penultimate game of the season.

Following Saturday’s clash with Millwall at the Riverside Stadium, Boro are back on the road, travelling to Ipswich Town on the final day of the season.

The Verdict

Besic has been a key part of Boro’s play-off push during the second-half of the season, featuring regularly in the heart of midfield.

The 25-year-old’s performances have been impressive and Boro’s fans will be keen to see the midfielder stay beyond the end of the season.

Rightly, Boro’s full focus is on promotion, which Besic states.
