Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate has been handed a boost in his pursuit of West Ham winger Grady Diangana.

After Football Insider linked the Teeside club with a move for the young Hammers star earlier in the week, the Sunday People (print edition, Sunday 21st July 2019), has today revealed that the Hammers are indeed willing to let the winger move out on loan.

The report states that the Hammers are "happy for Grady Diangana to go out on loan, sparking a stampede for the winger’s services. The Hammers want the 21-year-old to increase his game-time and will listen to offers from the Championship or abroad.”

The 21-year-old already has Premier League experience under his belt following some starts and bench appearances for West Ham, but a move to the Championship would no doubt give him the chance to get regular game time under his belt.

And Middlesbrough will be delighted to see the Hammers are willing to let Diangana leave, with manager Jonathan Woodgate keen on adding quality to the ranks after taking over the reins from Tony Pulis at the end of last season.

Born in Congo, Diangana has represented England at under-20 level and is highly thought of by coaching staff at the London Stadium.

The Verdict

Big boost this for Boro, who might well make a concrete move for the young winger now.

He is a quality player too, and someone who on his day could be well capable of lighting up the Championship and producing the goods.

Middlesbrough need exciting players to get the fans invested back in the club, and Diangana is someone who can certainly offer them that level of excitement.
