Tony Pulis is hoping to take Liverpool star Sheyi Ojo to the Riverside on a season-long loan, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Ojo spent the last campaign with Fulham as they earned a spot in the top flight and Pulis sees the winger as an additional source of pace. Adama Traore is certainly one outlet for Boro, but Ojo would add further width and speed to their attacks.

He's likely to be in the reserves at Liverpool if he remains there this season, so another year experiencing a high level of football would further aid his development and benefit both parties.

However, Middlesbrough are not the only side looking to take Ojo on loan. Fellow Championship side Reading have also been mentioned in the report as having enquired about the 21-year old, with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg also in the hunt.

The latter may be an attractive proposition given the German league's attraction for young English players. The success of Jayden Sancho, the Manchester City youngster now with Dortmund, has demonstrated their may be first team football available to young English players in the German top flight.

The Verdict

Ojo is championship experienced, wholly able to have input in a promotion assault and exciting when he's on the ball. Why would Reading and Middlesbrough not want him?

However, will the lure of facing Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich beat trips to Brentford and Wigan? Pulis might have his work cut out convincing the youngster to chose Boro over Bundesliga.
