Middlesbrough have taken Peterborough United youngster Nicky Gyimah-Bio on trial, according to Teesside Live.

Gyimah-Bio has been on Peterborough's books since he was a youngster, and the versatile forward could now be set to make the move to Boro.

Boro have taken the 18-year-old on trial, and he featured in their Under-23s' 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Monday.

Toyosi Olusanya grabbed a late winner, as Boro began their Premier League Cup campaign with a thrilling late victory.

What lies in store for Gyimah-Bio remains to be seen, with Boro keeping a close eye on his performances in games as well as in training.

The forward, who can also play in midfield, reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Wolfsburg and as many as eight Premier League clubs last year, with scouts travelling to watch him in action.

Boro are renowned for developing young players, with players such as Nathan Wood, Djed Spence and Isaiah Jones making the step-up to the first-team in recent years.

The Verdict

I think this could be a positive move for Boro.

Gyimah-Bio is obviously a raw talent who has potential, and you don't attract interest from big clubs like Wolfsburg if you aren't a talented young player.

If Boro can offer him a clear pathway from Under-23s' to the first-team, then it would be a great move for him.

Peterborough, like Boro, have also developed some excellent young players over the years, and they will want to cover their own backs if he did end up leaving for the Riverside.
