Middlesbrough eyeing £8m January move for Premier League striker

Middlesbrough could be set to make a January move for Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome as Aitor Karanka looks to bolster his front line, according to The Sun.

Although Jerome has never been able to score goals regularly in the Premier League, he scored 21 times for the Canaries in the Championship last season as they beat Boro in the play-off final.

The Teessiders were linked with a number of big-money strikers in the summer but reported moves for Patrick Bamford, Jordan Rhodes and Daryl Murphy failed to materialise.

Although Boro signed David Nugent and Cristhian Stuani, fans have been calling for the club to sign another striker in January as they look to ensure that they reach the top flight this time around.

A move for Jerome, who spent time on trial at the Riverside as a youngster, would be an expensive one with the figure being mooted standing at £8m.

Middlesbrough are currently second in the Championship after collecting 36 points from their 18 league games, and they will go top until Saturday at least if they beat Ipswich Town on Friday night.

Middlesbrough fans…what do you make of the news? Would you like to see Jerome sign for the club? Is the figure being touted too high for him? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
