Championship promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough have entered the race to sign Cystal Palace defender Joel Ward.

According to Alan Nixon, Tony Pulis's men are looking to sign Ward ahead of West Brom, who are also very keen on taking the right back to the Hawthorns before the end of the month.

Ward was a regular last season but has found his early season place under threat with Roy Hodgson opting for young fullback Wan-Bissaka in place of the Englishman so far this term.

This means the experienced Ward could well be down the pecking order, and he might well fancy a move into the Championship as he looks to cement regular first team football over the course of the coming camapaign.

Both Boro and WBA have made positive starts to the Championship season, with Boro currently unbeaten at the top of the table while West Brom stuck seven past QPR yesterday to really fire up their season.

Ward joined Palace back 2012 following a spell with Portsmouth and has gone on to make in excess of 150 appearances at Selhurst Park. However, with Wan-Bissaka showing real promise, it could well be time for the 28-year-old to move on.

Boro and Baggies fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
