Middlesbrough are interested in West Brom's Kamil Grosicki as Neil Warnock looks to strengthen his squad for their promotion push in the New Year.

The experienced boss has guided Boro to a very good start in the Championship, with the 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest leaving the Teesside outfit in the top six.

That start has been all the more impressive when you consider that Boro endured a frustrating transfer window and they missed out on a late deal to sign Yannick Bolasie.

And, their search for a winger has seen Boro linked with Grosicki, with the Sunday Mirror (p.65, 1/11/20) claiming that the Polish international is a target.

The 32-year-old almost completed a loan move to Nottingham Forest in the recent window but the Reds lodged the paperwork for the deal 21 seconds after the deadline and their appeal to have the transfer ratified was rejected.

As a result, Grosicki returned to Albion and whilst he has been named in the Baggies 25-man squad for the Premier League, there are several wingers ahead of him in the pecking order at The Hawthorns.

The verdict

Grosicki has proven himself to be a very good player at this level, so he would certainly be a welcome addition for Boro as they are probably one player short out wide.

The obvious issue is that Forest may come back in for him in the transfer window and even if they don't, there's sure to be plenty of takers in the Championship.

But, Boro will appeal to anyone as Warnock has built a strong squad and another promotion for him looks a real possibility.
