Middlesbrough are said to be closing in on the signing of Sporting Lisbon forward Andraz Sporar, as per a recent report by Teesside Live.
The move for the versatile forward player, which is expected to be an initial loan, appeared close to being completed last week before a complication cropped up in the deal.
However it has been stressed by the same publication that the problem is not of Middlesbrough’s doing and is believed to centre around passport issues in Portugal.
Sporar is Slovenian and therefore doesn’t have a Portuguese passport, which means the Tax and Customs Authority have got involved as he is a non Portuguese worker who is looking to leave the country.
It has been stressed to Boro that this issue should be resolved by the end of this week, which should in turn pave the way for Sporar to move to the Riverside Stadium.

The financial details of the deal have all been agreed between the two clubs for quite some time and no other complications are expected as Boro look to finally get their man.
This would be another exciting addition for Boro fans to get their teeth into and the club would finally be getting in the new attacking player that they have been searching for this summer.
Sporar has good pedigree at both club and intentional level and is a versatile option who can be utilised both centrally and on the flanks when required.
It appears likely that he would be coming in as a regular starter and many people will be hoping that he can hit the ground running in the North East as Boro aim to be in and around the top six in the Sky Bet Championship this season.
All in all this seems like another smart bit of business by Boro, who continue to surprise many in this transfer window.
