Middlesbrough are trying to bring in Yannick Bolasie on loan from Everton hours before the deadline passes.

Dean Jones of Football Insider is reporting that the Championship outfit are trying to revive their interest one of their summer targets who they narrowly missed out on in August.

The 29-year-old had a medical at Boro ahead of a season-long loan before making a dramatic U-turn and instead, headed to Aston Villa.

Bolasie started nine matches but had to wait for a place in the side from the off after 12 substitute appearances were all he was afforded.

Two goals and four assists in 954 minutes of league action for Villa would be amassed before his loan deal was terminated and he returned to Goodison Park.

Now back with the Premier League side, and without much hope of playing, Tony Pulis is hoping his time around he is able to get a deal over the line after being so close to signing the Congo international last summer.

The verdict

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

And that is precisely what Middlesbrough are doing having been shunned by Bolasie in the summer.

I am sure Pulis would not go back for a player who turned him down at the last minute.

But these are desperate times at the Riverside and needs must in this case.

Bolasie would be a cracking signing and give them the pace and power in attack they have missed since the sale of Adama Traore.

Not much time left to get a deal over the line, but a loan would take far less time than any permanent switch.
