Middlesbrough braced for £20m bid for star man with Liverpool circling

Championship Middlesbrough will need to prepare for a huge bid for star defender Ben Gibson, according to the Sun.

Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly lining up a massive £20m bid for the centre back after their failed attempts to sign Southampt0n defender Virgil Van Dijk, and could make their move over the next few weeks.

Gibson was the shining light in what was otherwise a miserable season for the North East club, and with Liverpool now joining the likes of Spurs and West Brom interested in taking Gibson off their hands, it could well only be a matter of time before a deal is struck.

Recently called up by England, Gibson has impressed onlooking scouts with dominant performances at centre half for the Boro, and it is this form which has seen him draw the interest of some of the countries top clubs.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to add defensive reinforcements to his squad after finally getting the Reds back in the Champions League, and clearly sees Gibson as exactly the sort of player who can slot straight in at Anfield.

Middlesbrough fans, what do you think to this? How much is Gibson worth? Let us know!
