Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka says that his players are “very, very confident” ahead of Friday night’s top of the table clash against in-form Norwich City.
The Canaries who have only lost once in the league in 17 games under Alex Neil, are starting to look a formidable outlet.
Many people’s favourites for promotion, Norwich City struggled until the arrival of Neil in January as he has completely turned the Carrow Road spirit around.
Boro will travel to Carrow Road only one point behind Norwich City with three games remaining in the season.
When asked about the game Karanka said t0 Gazette Live: “I think the loser can forget direct promotion but the winner won’t definitely be in the Premier League either.”
But despite the confidence being high after their important home victory against Wolves on Tuesday, the Boro boss warned his players what to expect from in form Norwich, “it will be a difficult game because Norwich are a Premier League team.”
With the high congestion of games Karanka told Gazette Live that Jonathan Woodgate, Daniel Ayala and Albert Adomah are all struggling and the Spaniard said: “I think that all of them will travel because they want to play so lets see how they are tomorrow”. It is expected that he will leave it late to pick his starting eleven.
The top of the Sky Bet Championship is incredibly tight with as many as four teams possibly ending the weekend on top, with two playing each other on Friday and Bournemouth and Watford playing on Saturday, there is plenty of incentive for teams to put in a big performance.
