Blackpool have confirmed the signing of Marc Bola form Middlesbrough on-loan until the end of the season, joining the club for the second time.

Simon Grayson has moved to confirm the re-signing of left-back Marc Bola after he left in the summer for Middlesbrough managed by Jonathan Woodgate. Bola was a key player last season as the Tangerines finished in mid-table in League One, scooping up the club’s Player of the Season award in May.

He moved to Championship club Middlesbrough in the summer but failed to make an impact from left-back despite filling in for the injured George Friend for the early stages in the season.

The emergence of Hayden Coulson as a first-team regular pushed him further down the pecking order to the point where he has looked for a move away this window to get back to regular football.

This culminated in a return to Bloomfield Road where he played some of his best football last season.

Speaking to the club’s official site, Bola was obviously delighted to be back on familiar territory, he said: "It feels very good to be back. I’ve been welcomed by my team-mates and the staff and I can’t wait to get back playing now. I’m looking to pick up from where I left off and play as many games as I can."

Blackpool have no fixture in the league this weekend, but they do play on Tuesday night in their FA Cup replay against Reading where Bola could be in line to make his second debut for the club.

The Verdict

This is a positive move all-round for Middlesbrough, Blackpool and the player.

Middlesbrough have managed to shift an unwanted player out of the squad in the hopes of extra development, while Blackpool and Bola will be over the moon to be reunited for the rest of the season.

Bola has half a season now to recapture his form that earned him a move to the Championship in the summer and what better place to do that than the place where you developed so much in the first place.
