Championship duo Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town are both interested making a move for experienced Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton, according to the Sunday People, print edition, 01/04/2018.

The Scottish international is set to be out of contract with the Villans, and with the defender on big money, Steve Bruce is willing to allow the 33-year-old to move on to pastures new as he looks to trim his squad of any excess wages that he feels the club do not need.

Hutton has been an important member of the Villa squad this season and undoubtedly still has plenty to offer at Championship level, with Boro manager Tony Pulis a known admirer of the right back.

However, Pulis could face competition from Ipswich, who will be saying goodbye to manager Mick McCarthy this summer and will be desperate to add some new faces to their squad after a dull season which has seen them drop well short of any sort of push for the playoffs.

Hutton, who has made well in excess of 100 appearances for Villa, could be open to staying in the Championship and will view both Boro and Ipswich as exciting opportunites.

Villa fans, what do you think? Should Hutton be offered a new deal? Let us know in the comments!
