According to the Irish Sun, Middlesbrough and Birmingham City are among a number of Sky Bet Championship clubs to enquire about Reading’s Jordan Obita.

The versatile Reading man is entering the final 12-months of his contract at the Madejski Stadium and has not held talks with the Royals about a possible extension.

Obita is on Garry Monk’s radar at Middlesbrough, with the 38-year-old keen to add a left-back to his squad following the departure of James Husband earlier this summer.

The 23-year-old is also attracting interest from Birmingham and Harry Redknapp, who are actively looking to add to their squad over the course of the summer.

Obita has spent his entire career with Reading, making 162 appearances for the Royals.

The left sided player had four spells away from the Madejski Stadium on-loan between 2012 and 2013, but has established himself in the Reading first-team over the last four seasons.

Under Jaap Stam, Obita excelled in the Championship last year, making 39 appearances in the league, helping Reading finish third at the end of the regular season.

Obita featured in the first-leg of Reading’s play-off semi-final, scoring in the 1-1 draw against Fulham – another team who have reportedly made an enquiry about the player.

He also made a substitute appearance at Wembley against Huddersfield in the play-off final.
