Mick McCarthy believes his Ipswich Town side had the better of Saturday’s clash with Leeds United and could have taken all three-points, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Freddie Sears had given Ipswich an early lead, before Stuart Dallas levelled for Leeds shortly before half-time, the game eventually finished in a 1-1 draw, with McCarthy’s side having the better of the chances.

McCarthy was full of praise for his side, he told the YEP: “We played well and created some good chances, I thought we did enough to win the game.”

Ipswich have taken six points from their last four fixtures, and are unbeaten across that time, defeating Aston Villa and picking up draws with promotion hopefuls Reading and Brighton and Hove Albion, along with Saturday’s result.

Ipswich now sit 13th in the Sky Bet Championship table, and look set for a mid-table finish at the end of the season. McCarthy is positive recent results have lifted spirits at Portman Road:

“If we continue to play as we have done recently, the fans will come back.

“It’s certainly a happier place than it was six weeks ago and that’s down to performances on the pitch.”

Next up for Ipswich is an East-Anglian Derby with Norwich City at Carrow Road, where McCarthy will be hopeful of denting Alex Neil’s side’s Play-Off challenge.
