Stoke City manager Michael O'Neill has admitted that he is not expecting a busy end to the transfer window at the bet365 Stadium.

Although the Northern Irishman refused to rule out the possibility of making one or two moves before Friday, he revealed that he is happy with the group of players that he currently has at his disposal.

The Potters opted to part ways with Cameron Carter-Vickers at the start of January following the defender's underwhelming loan spell before allowing Badou Ndiaye and Peter Etebo to make temporary exits from the club.

Although Mark Duffy and Scott Hogan are still at Stoke, it is understood that they are both likely to depart in the coming days.

O'Neill's only signing of the window to date has been Jordan Thompson who joined the Potters from Blackpool for an undisclosed fee.

Stoke, who are currently 19th in the Championship standings, will be hoping that their current roster of players will be able to steer them to safety in May.

Speaking to the Stoke Sentinel about the Potters' transfer plans, O'Neill said: "It will not be too busy.

"We have streamlined the squad and we've now got a good group to work with here.

"There is a really good spirit in the dressing room, which is important, and we don't have that many disgruntled players now, which is important as well.

"When we came here, there were more players out of the team than in it and that makes it difficult to build the right atmosphere within the group.

"If there are one of two things we feel the need for, we'll look at that, but I don't expect us to be very busy."

The Verdict

When you consider that the Potters have only lost one of their last five Championship fixtures, it is understandable why O'Neill is not particularly interested in bolstering his squad.

Although Stoke could potentially benefit from signing some new individuals, the togetherness of their existing roster of players could be impacted by the arrival of some fresh faces.

Therefore, if O'Neill is considering the possibility of adding one or two new players, he ought to factor in how this may impact the club's fortunes.

With the Potters looking to retain their second status for another season, it could be argued that sticking with the status quo may be the right decision.
