The future of Reading midfielder Michael Olise remains up in the air heading into the January transfer window.

Olise has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for the Royals in recent seasons, with his displays this term for Veljko Paunovic's side seemingly not going unnoticed.

The 18-year-old has made ten appearances in all competitions this term, and has chipped in with two goals and three assists this season for a Reading side that are sat top of the Championship table after their opening ten matches of the 2020/21 season.

What do we know so far?

The Daily Mail have previously reported that Leeds United were interested in a deal to sign Olise in the January transfer window, although the likes of Arsenal are also believed to be keen on signing the midfielder.

TEAMtalk have now claimed that Liverpool, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund are just some of the teams keen on signing the French youth international.

It remains to be seen as to which club is leading the race to land his signature though, ahead of what could be an interesting transfer window ahead.

Football Insider have revealed that Olise has a release clause of £8million, which is likely to see interest in his services heighten in the coming months.

Is it likely to happen?

I can't see a move happening this season to be honest.

Reading have already shown in the past that they'll do everything they can to keep hold of their key players, with the club rejecting bids for John Swift during the summer transfer window.

I'm not too sure as to how true the report on his reported release clause being £8million is, but if it is correct, then I wouldn't be surprised to see other club test Reading's resolve with a formal bid.

Olise has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances this term, and will be hoping he can continue to do so as this year's campaign progresses.

Reading are in a strong position to mount a serious challenge for promotion into the Premier League this season, and I would be stunned if they were to be looking at moving Olise on anytime soon.
