After initially trying to land his signature five months ago, Burnley have finally secured a deal to bring Republic of Ireland international striker Michael Obafemi to Turf Moor.
Vincent Kompany tried to sign the 22-year-old in the late stages of the summer transfer window, but Swansea City's then-£12 million price-tag was not met by the Clarets, who refused to go into eight figures for a player who struck 12 times in the Championship during the 2021-22 season.
Ever since Swansea refused to sell Obafemi to Burnley, the ex-Southampton man has been out of form and he has not been in a matchday squad since football returned back in December, scoring just three goals before he was banished from the first-team by Russell Martin.
Patience for Obafemi though has finally paid off as pen has been put to paper on a loan deal until the end of the season to bolster the Championship table-toppers' front-line, and despite many suggesting that Burnley have an obligation to purchase the forward in the summer, both clubs have confirmed that it is only an option.
Speaking to Burnley's official website following completion of the move, Obafemi said:"I'm glad to be here. It's been a busy few days, but I am just glad that it's finally done now.
