Michael Duff pinpoints where Barnsley might turn to for transfers

Published

Since Michael Duff’s arrival at Barnsley this summer, the manager has been hard at work to bring new faces into the club in the hope that he can take the Tykes straight back to the Championship this season.

The side look to be in good shape going into tomorrow’s opening game of the season as Barnsley travel to Plymouth.

However, with a month of the transfer window still to go, the Reds are not finished with their summer business and are now waiting for the next phase of the transfer window.

Speaking about the club’s next targets, Duff told The Yorkshire Post: “It is always a cascade. When they [Premier League clubs] go on big tours, they take big squads of the better younger players that they want to have a look at in pre-season.

“Then they generally let a lot of them go and then there is the fall-out from that. Obviously there is a food chain down the leagues.

“We are not stupid or foolish enough to think that if a player has got a Championship club looking for him, he is not going to go there. Because players want to play as high as they can.

“So we have got to sit and wait and hopefully, we will get the right ones.”

WHAT YEAR WERE THE CLUB FOUNDED

The Verdict:

The Tykes have made some good additions to their side so far and look to be creating a side that will definitely be hoping to be at the right end of the table next season.

However, it seems as though there’s still room for some further additions and getting these from the leagues above is the right kind of business for the club to be doing.

As Duff points out, it starts to become a bit of a food chain with players dropping down from leagues above and the boss will be hoping his side can attract some strong players that will able to assist his side’s efforts this season.
