Former Leeds United midfielder and pundit Michael Brown delivered a promising four-word reply for the supporters of both the Whites and West Bromwich Albion, to who he thinks will earn automatic promotion to the Premier League this season.

Leeds earned a potentially vital win against West Brom on Tuesday night at Elland Road, with Ezgjan Alioski registering the only goal of an even contest in the first half, which saw Marcelo Bielsa's side end the Baggies' unbeaten start to the Championship season and leapfrog them in the table.

However, despite managing to secure the three points Leeds were pushed all the way by a very strong West Brom side, who finished the match with more possession than the Whites, the first team to do that since Sheffield United last season, and both teams look like strong potential promotion candidates.

Speaking to Quest's Football League highlights show, Brown suggested that he believes both Leeds and West Brom will be able to earn automatic promotion from the Championship this season.

When asked who he thought would go up automatically, he replied, saying: "Leeds and West Brom."

The Verdict

Brown's belief that both Leeds and West Brom can both earn promotion this season to the Premier League will be welcome to both sets of supporters, who probably feel their respective sides have put down a strong marker in the opening ten matches of the Championship campaign.

Tuesday's clash certainly had the feel of a potentially crucial encounter between two of the division's best teams, with Leeds entering the game knowing a defeat would make it back to back losses and allow West Brom to open up a five-point gap on them, making the victory crucial for Bielsa's side.

Leeds showed that they could respond to suffering a defeat and now the previously unbeaten West Brom will need to show the same ability, and with a long way to go neither teams manager will be getting carried away, but they will probably both internally share Brown's belief that their sides can earn promotion this term.
