Former Portsmouth midfielder Michael Brown believes the side's rejuvenation this season under Kenny Jackett has been 'amazing'.

Pompey moved back into the League One play-off places on Tuesday night after a 3-1 win over MK Dons at Fratton Park, which was their sixth straight league victory at home.

Although the side are fighting for promotion at present, Pompey had a very disappointing start to the season.

They won just three of their first 11 league games, occupying the bottom-half of the table until early November.

But the 43-year-old, who played 57 times for Portsmouth between 2009 and 2011, believes Jackett has rejuvenated the club in recent months, lifting the pressure off of his shoulders in the process.

Michael Brown, speaking exclusively to 888Sport, said:

“It’s an understatement regarding a recovery on what Kenny Jackett has done. It’s been an amazing turn-around because the pressure was mounting. It was a real slow start."

A club record sequence of nine straight wins in all competitions between January and February has elevated Pompey to the brink of the automatic promotion places, and the side have maintained their unbeaten league run at Fratton Park this term.

Brown said that these factors, including the respective runs in the EFL Trophy and the FA Cup have brought a feel-good factor to the club.

"They’re really hit the ground running with fantastic home form. It was an exciting one to get to the final of the Leasing.com Trophy. I’m going to be covering the game against Arsenal on the Monday night in the FA Cup. So they’ve got a cup final, an FA Cup game against Arsenal at Fratton Park, and a promotion push. So it’s really good times," Brown added.

The former Portsmouth man also admitted he has been in contact with the club's owners.

"I remember speaking to the owners last season after they just missed out on the Play-Offs and made the final of the Checkatrade and they were saying that’s football and everything takes time," Brown added.

"They seemed to understand that they’re there to try and improve this football club that has such fabulous support. Hopefully they can go up a level.”
